1st meet-up this Wednesday!
Hello again friends!
Have had amazing feedback thus far about the Brooklyn Skillshare! To keep the momentum, I am organizing the first of many meet-ups for anyone interested in participating — this Wednesday, June 3rd @ 6:30pm at The Magician (118 Rivington St). They have an excellent happy hour and we will hopefully take-over the back room.
Here are things to be covered and for you to think about beforehand:
• site liaison - finding location, being liaison with. this is #1 right now.
• skill sharers - what skill would you like to propose to teach?
• outreach - recruiting facilitators and advertising event to participants - emails, postings, fliers, posters, etc (these could really be separate, it’s a lot of work)
• food - the Boston Skillshare, for example, provides a vegan breakfast and lunch for free to all each day of the weekend (buying, acquiring food, donations, cooking, serving, cleaning getting volunteers to help cook, etc)
• technology - our website and figuring out/troubleshooting/helping with technology issues on the days of the event (i.e. projectors, computers, etc)
• schedule-maker - creating a final schedule of workshops, communicating with facilitators regarding schedule
• program-maker - makes a nice paper program for participants
• email checker - responds to and deals with all random emails that come to account
• tabling - someone organizes, recruits people and organizations to have tables of info or projects or stuff for sale at the event
• materials - finds out what facilitators need, buys and collects materials, gives to facilitators
• fundraiser organizers - organize fun events to fund raise and publicize Skillshare (i.e. shows, parties)
• press
• volunteer coordinator - recruits, communicates with, and organizes volunteers
• treasurer
