Come join us next Tuesday, December 13th at 7:30pm at Tea Lounge in Park Slope (837 Union Street between 6th & 7th Aves) for a special screening of Vulture Culture—a documentary about the existence and demise of Brooklyn’s Free Store.
A short Q & A with the filmmaker will follow the screening.
Vulture Culture, 21 minutes, 2011
Directed by Eric Rockey
Can garbage be used to foster community? That’s the question anarchist collective In Our Hearts asks in the short documentary Vulture Culture. Collective members create a Free Store and host free community dinners with food rescued from dumpsters, working to create connections between community members in Brooklyn’s legendary Bed-Stuy neighborhood. Their efforts are threatened by the elements and by unknown opponents who try to sabotage their work.
Vulture Culture recently had its world premiere at the 2011 DOC NYC film festival! For more information, go to www.vultureculturefilm.com
