Named for a German semiotic term loosely meaning ‘perceived worlds’, UMWELTEN parallels the artist’s process with an organism’s symbiotic, interpretative relationship to its environment. Before walls are erected and tools hum, music rages and large-scale works reach from corner to dark corner to revive a raw, neglected space. Art works by Emily Elsen, Brent Howard, Wennie Huang, The Minotaur (Rob Andrews), Jean Pelle, Jennifer Schmidt, Francesco Simeti, Niknaz Tavakolian and Niall Van Dyke - exhibition curated by Angela Conant.Performances by:Small BlackPrecinctWorkout and Sister Big Stuff
