Teacher Bio: Jacqueline Schmidt

Jacqueline Schmidt, A first generation American, third generation artist, was born and raised in New York City. Founder of Screech Owl Design, Jacqueline and her husband George Schmidt combine illustration and art in a full line of eco-friendly products and custom furniture.
While continuing her work at Screech Owl Design, Jacqueline has embarked on a parallel
project as Creative Director of Moomah; a creative arts center in Tribeca. Finding time to turn her energies towards her own artwork, Jacqueline has created a body of abstract and surrealist work infused with a quirky automatic style characterized by her well developed sense of subtlety and restraint as well as deft use of oddly juxtaposed imagery. Jacqueline has exhibited her artwork in galleries in Europe, New York, and the midwest. She and her husband and their two cats live in Brooklyn.

As a personal interest, I have been very passionate about both knitting and felting for
years. I have taught in schools and universities around New York City and the midwest,
including Pratt Institute, where I received my graduate degree.
Why are you teaching at the Skillshare? I think skillshare is great opportunity for those who have always had an interest in a craft or technique to be able to get a taste and see through experience if this is something that might want to pursue further in the future.
