Why kickstarter?
Because we need cash to bring more fresh breads closer to you;
We want to offer wholesale prices out of our walk up window;
Offer youth skill-building workshops;
Reach out to those who are changing careers or want to improve their home cooking skills
In order to do this, we need to upgrade our existing equipment—we just can’t make any more loaves with the stuff we’ve got:
a new oven = $3,000
another refrigerator = $2,500
mixer = $3,000
worktables = $1,000
pans, bowls, + misc. baking tools = $500We want the funds to come from our family of supporters, not just anybody… We want you to decide the fate of SCRATCHbread, have a stake in its future, and be part of building something we can all enjoy, every single day.
We’ve just got our home secured for the next five years, and we want to dig into Bed Stuy, offer wholesale priced bread to our Brooklyn neighborhood, and open our shop as a collective community resource and a serious business with sustained growth… We think both can be accomplished at the same time…. And with you as the focus.
